FAMILY:  A hallmark of Scherer's way of dealing with their customers for more than 100 years.
 
In 1905, Otto Scherer started with Buick in Palmyra, Wisconsin.  Surrounding himself with the Buick hierarchy, these automotive legends like David Dunbar Buick, Walter Chrysler, and C.W. Nash were not only colleagues, but close personal friends of Otto.  Basing his philosophy on good service, quality products and fair pricing, Otto became a much-respected and successful business figure in southern Wisconsin.

Otto was a man possessed of great foresight.  When the building housing his store burned down, Otto took the opportunity to construct a building that would not only house his business, but also a post office, medical and dental offices.  Calling it 'The Scherer Opera House,' it was the first building in Palmyra to have electric lights.


TRANSITION:  The growing pains any business must go through in order to survive not only the hectic day-to-day pace of work, but also the lasting commitment that will last throughout the eras.

Through the years the Scherer family has set up dealerships in Palmyra, Beloit and Janesville, Wisconsin and Medford and Eugene, Oregon.  In 1957 they brought their desire to provide fine quality automobiles to their customers in central Illinois.  By the late nineties, the family represented multiple brands, some with multiple locations.

After 100 years of representing Buick, the family felt the automobile industry changing once again.  They parted with their tenure with Buick, and soon after the other brands they represented, and sought out the next superior product to represent.  The endeavor was difficult, but the choice was easy.
